I was prompted to write this after being send a message by a girl on a different site:
"I understand why you're jaded with American Psycho and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in your favourites list. I loved the first. Whether seen as an fictional narrative of a Patrick's sick mind, as inferred at the end of the book, or a true representation of Patrick's world. I was given the book by a good friend who knew that I could appreciate the sick humour which fills page after page.
"And hated the second. I watched Spotless Mind on a day I was homesick and missing my girlfriend - now ex - after almost 3 months in Zurich without her, and was almost suicidal afterwards. It so disgusted me that I felt physically sick. Perhaps it touched on a subject that was too close to me. The movie itself is obviously brilliant for it to evoke this feeling in me, but given a choice I would certainly prefer anything to watching the movie a second time. This probably means I should see it again."
