Sooooo Amsterdam was cool!
The trip didn't start great with a 5:30am wake up call, a nightmarish 40 minutes through airport security and over an hour delay on my flight but once I was in Holland things went a lot more smoothly!
We were staying in a hostel in the centre of town and it was a nice place not too noisy and comfy beds. I think it was so quiet because no matter what time of day you were there, there were always people sleeping off their last joint The day was mostly spent trying to find somewher Bev could actually eat (shes veggie - no local food for us!) but we managed in the end. Some general shop perusal ensued followed by cocktails at a cool little bar called Lime. Be warned the cocktails are strong but absolutely lush!
Later on we decided to venture out and discover the world of Amsterdam Space Cake! We went to this place that gave us a pretty small amount which we decided to share cause we had been warned about how strong it was. And you knwo what? Absolutely nothing! We were totally gutted but it pretty much had no effect. We were slightly disheartened so we headed to the Red Light District, as we would every night, and looked at all the ladies in the windows. I think it would be fun to just stand in the window and tease men for one night!
Next day we went to Anne Frank Huis which i have to say was a bit of a disapointment. Its a pretty small museum, obviously (but much more spacious than you would imagine!) and it doesn't really g ve you much more insight than you already had. True you get to walk around where they actually lived and you get to see the original diary but to be honest I didn't think it was that great. Oh and the gift shop only sells about 50 million versions of the one book!
In the afternoon we headed to Verzetsmusuem which is the museum of the Dutch Resistance. One that could easily be overlooked but definately shouldn't be! This museum gives you history of Holland during the Nazi occupation but its not all depressing as it comes with a message of hope. The things the resistance did were absolutely amazing and no many times they were shot down (sometimes literally) they always found new ways to rise against. If you go to Amsterdam you must go there!
For dinner that night we went to a great little Mexican restaurant called Los Pilones ( i think) which is actually run by two Mexican brothers and the food is amaizng plus they sell over 30 different types of Tequila! Margaritas later we swayed back to out hostel for a little chill out before going to yet again, get stoned.
We went to Hill Street Blues, of Irivine Welsh fame, and it was exactly what we were looking for. A dank yet loveable little pub which served cocktails, hash food and had a pool table. And playe dPresidents of the United States of America! Wooo! After the dissapointment of the night before we got Space Cake here and ate the whole thing. Oops! Bit of a mistake. No adverse affects but we werod shit!e good for nothing after that. We went and sat by the canals for a while and then just went to bed unable to muster the energy to do anything else. it was good shit!
Last day we checked out some Van gogh. I love his painting sbut I find it hard to focus on them as a whole. I get lost in all the individual brush strokes, finding different ones everytime I look. I get mesmerised by this and end up just standing there staring until i realise I'm blocking the view. Even then i have to forcibly drag myself away...
We were going to look at more art but due to renovations and stuff the other museums are closed at the more or have limited pieces on show...
But not too worry we took some pleasant walks, went on a canal boat and finished off our trip with a sex show. To be honest i thought I would have been a bit shocked or something but I really wasn't. It seems weird but seeing people having sex in fornt of you just isn't as awkward as you would think. And it was cool to see a girl smoke a cigar with her vagina. I wouldn't say it was worth the 20 tho.
I'm gutted though becasue I ran out of money and I really wanted these!
So cheesy but yet so cool
Anyway back in Belfast, my home town! Went to see The Sentinel with my dad. Don't bother. Whether its Eva or Keifer that floats your boat, neither get enough screen time to make it worth it. The acting, score and cinematograhy are fantastic, but its sooooooooo badly written!
Anyways then quickly caught up with my friend Roy before heading to BoySetsFire's last EVER UK show and 2nd last EVER show! I can't belive they are breaking up but it was one helluva show! They really rocked it and they just played on the floor so as the gig went on and on we got closer and closer to the point we were just standing around them and rocking out. It was mucha fun and it was nice to talk to the guys who have promised to keep making the music. *sigh*
Oh and I got Tenacious D tickets woooooooooooo!
Anyways probably won't update til the end of next week when I'm back in Pompey but mucha love til then peeps!

What a wicked holiday!I can't beleive how different Amsterdam is to Britain, they're so lax! Did you get stoned before you watched the sex show? I think that'd have to get done, although all the giggling might put the performers off!
