Holy shit. I've been awake for more then thirty hours now. Yesterday night my brother and I were hanging with some friends. We were kind of bored so we wanted something to do. WIth our heads put together we came up with a gnarly road trip.
My brother just got an apartment in South Philly so we came up with a plan to drive down to Philly and be back by 4 pm today so our friends could go to work. So me, my brother and two of my friends left at 11 pm last night for philly. From where we live in western mass, it's like a 5 hour drive.
It was soo great. I did all the driving because im basically the only one who knows how to drive and how to get there. We all piled into a ford taurus wagon with a bunch of guitars, a battery powered keyboard my friend got at goodwill, and a complete drum set.
We were going down i95 playing guitar, keyboards and drumming at the same time. The best part was that this was at like two in the morning. We were having a full jam session in the car.
The only bummer was when we hit the jersey turnpike. I got pulled over by a state trooper. The guy was so skeptical of us because we were out of state. He practically lined us up and searched the car. When he asked me if I knew why he pulled me over I honestly said no because I really wasn't speeding, but he says I disregarded a sign and so I got an $85 ticket It was funny though because he didn't walk up to the passenger side window like a normal human being; he essentially moonwalked with his hand on his holster. My brother was soo scared the guy was gonna shoot us that he asked him if it was alright to reach into the glove box to grab the registration. It was ironic because my brother got pulled over that morning in mass because someone stole his front license plates.
It' a bummer but we all laughed at it the rest of the way to philly. We actually didn't go straight to philly but e stopped at a sonic at 4 am. It was my first time and I can honestly say it was THE SHIT. Well worth the detour. From there we went to my brothers apartment in south philly. His apartment actually didn't have any furniture so we kind of just slept on the floor until 8 am (i slept 7-8am because I was too busy enjoying sleep deprivation and guitar at 6 am).
From there we went to Pats. HOLY SHIT. Everyone in this hemisphere should have Pat's before they die, Fuck Geno's though. Pat's makes THE best cheesesteaks. It was like the cheesesteak equivalent of heroine. After that (10am) we went to center city and visited the historic liberty bell and the independence hall....... I'm just playing.
We actually went to the pretzel factory and bought an ass load of pretzels. Between 4 people we had 10 plain pretzels, 4 cinnamon pretzels, and two hot dog pretzels. From there we started the trip back. It took 6 hours because of traffic. I got the least amount of sleep and I was driving. Awesome experience. I feel like a freakin commando right now. We actually got back in time to take my friend to work and bag some vietnamese soup with my momma.
Total:
Gas - $60
Tolls - $23.70
Tickets - $85 for disregarding a traffic sign at 2am
Food - $40
+ $3.56 because some dud in south philly thought our jams were good
I'm really tired now and that's just the readers digest version. No pics because my phone is fucked sorry, but I assure this will happen again for all to enjoy later down the road.
