I hate hospitals, I hate the NHS and I hate night shifts.
Last night I was admitted to A&E (ER for my neighbours over the ocean) because of internal bleeding. I had a similar problem about four weeks ago and at that time they said keep an eye on things and if it happens again come back to the hospital and we'll look at surgical options. Well, it happened again and the quantity of blood was quite concerning. I get the to A&E department, wait for 4 hours and when I'm finally seen I'm told to go home and call my own GP on Monday, never mind that my stomach is swollen and I'm vomiting blood.
I then get asked if I can cover an emergency shift tonight at a Children's home and because I don't want to let the kids down I agree to it. So now I'm not well, exhausted and working a 12 hour waking night on approx. 5 hours sleep. If the internal bleeding doesn't kill me, the night shift will.
