Real quick rant, because I don't have too much time before I go to work.
I'm currently struggling with a cartoonist friend of mine who has commissioned me to create several logos and t-shirt designs for a comic that he is working on. His instructions are incredibly vague, and his creative input leaves everything to be desired. In fact, I have his idea sheet right here.
That's it. That is all that he gave me to go off of. Now... if you can't read anything on there, he writes that "anything with ghost ideas is fine." Then a list of random words in front of the word "shirts." I was able to knock a few concepts out at work, which he immediately approved of without a second glance. Then he wants me to make a logo look like a neon sign, but he doesn't know which one, so to just try it and see which works.
Am I wrong in being frustrated? And I haven't even talked with him about payment, which was a big mistake on my part. That's going to blow up in my face for sure.
I'll rant a bit more at length when I get off work. Until then, stay gold, sexy people.
