Last night was fun. We got to Rubbles (the bar where my friend's band was playing) around midnight. Almost immediately, Dustin spotted the bassist (who is the guy I grew up with and is like a brother to me) talking to a couple of people at a booth. So I walk over and shout hi Ryan. He says hi and goes back to convo as if he doesn't know me; then suddenly turns and goes oh my god I didn't recognize you. So we stand there talking for a few minutes then he leaves to see when they are going on.
Dustin and I sit and soon after, I spot two other guys who I went to school with and have a short conversation with them--they also didn't recognize me at first.
So we make our way into the other room where the band is setting up and run into Abby, my co-worker and look-alike girlie. She had met the drummer on myspace and begun following the band. I explained my connection (bassist is one of my oldest friends in the world, briefly dated the guitarist in high school).
Just as the guys are going on, Ryan's girlfriend spots me and starts talking to me. She ended up pulling me nearly onstage and giving me her camera at one point to take pics of the guys. This doesn't seem strange, but this girl used to barely acknowledge me, so this was a big improvement. She was playing the part of band girlfriend perfectly. Her boy was getting a lot of attention from the females (including shouts of i love you), all of which she took in stride. We shared a shot with the band since it was the drummers birthday and made plans to get together sometime for dinner.
And the band played surprisingly well. Well, surprising to me since I know they haven't been playing together that long. They sounded good. They have that kind of hardcore-metal sound that is really big right now mixed with a little bit of hair metal type stuff.
The funniest thing was a couple of drunk guys hitting on Abby and I while I was holding Dustin's hand. We were like WTF? Are they blind or something?
So now I have to work again tonight and my throat is still hurting and I'm just bleh--I've been sick all week and it doesn't seem to be going away.

Yeah, we're sick too. What's up with that?
