I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to go grocery shopping this morning..... I did somehow manage to get everything I needed and get out of the store in an hour.. Most of that time however, was spent standing in line. I've been cleaning all day, this place is a total wreck and I've got 4 people coming over tomorrow. Just started baking white chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies! mmmmm... cookies... This is gonna be fun. I was starting to worry that I was the only one trying to avoid their family this xmas, but a few of my friends decided to do the same. All I had to do was mention that I was cooking and immediately had people wanting to come by. So now I get to make this place look nice at the last minute... not an easy task... The heater is about to crap out, so there is black crud all over the vents and the floor by the vents... That's gonna be fun to clean. I can't wait till I'm done sorting this mess out. The plan is to have a nice relaxing evening, watch a couple of movies and go to bed before 3AM..... well... maybe 4AM...
I have this client who takes the award for dumbass of the year. He gives me this 6 year old gateway PII 300MHZ pile o' shit and says he wants it fixed and he's willing to pay $300! WTF DUDE!! GO BUY A NEW ONE!!! I could see fixing it if it were a couple years old, but he could buy a better machine for $200!! He keeps telling me what a great computer it is when it's working. I sent him a proposal to build him a new machine, but I don't expect to get very far with that... I mentioned the price while on the phone with him and he didn't react very well.. I'm like well, that's what it costs to do it right. You can have it fast, you can have it cheap, or you can have it right. You only get to choose one! Anybody who knows the joy of building and configuring a custom PC knows that it takes a minimum of 6 hours to do it right. Yes, I charge $75 an hour, but I give a good warranty because I know it's done right the first time!
Mmmmmm... first batch of cookies is done! Bad Mike!! save them for tomorrow! Well, I think it's time to get off the puter and get back to cleaning the house. I hope everyone has a great holiday, however you choose to spend it. I'm looking forward to the food coma myself!
