cut diagonally at the node you want to clip it back to, dip the cut part in honey and put it in water if you want to root it. you can also feed some of the runner back into the pot and clip it down if you have exposed soil, it will eventually root.

====<====<=====O that's the vine...each "V" equals the spot (node) where a new leaf popped out along the trail.
just take scissors, razor blade, etc and clean cut each node about 1/8" just past each leaf sprout.
what you'll have in your hand will be a bunch of green round sticks about 1" or more in length with a leaf on one end.
get some decent potting mix (not real outside type dirt) into any coffee mug sized container and poke about half dozen of the stick ends into the loose soil until the leaf is almost buried. press down soil a bit and lightly water.
should see new growth in about 2 weeks.
moisten only when top of soil feels dry and crumbly.
