I truly feel like a fish on a hook. I'm asking myself just because it looks good, is it really worth it? She said yr lip is very fragile right now. It could ripe LIKE A CHEESE SLICER". I could still hear her words, her concerned prophecy. I wanted my lip pierced so badly for so long. I wasn't gonna let a corporate job like Starbucks stop me from expressing myself. They brag that they embrace diversity but don't allow tattoos or piercings..doesn't make sense to me. their double standards. Yeah they embrace diversity, just not in their workers. I figured it could stil work out. I could just wear a retainer at work and the put the jewelry back in after work and on days off. I've been putting my lip through so much "unnessecary hell" just because I'm one stubborn bitch about it. I got the piercing on June 25th and since then, I've changed the jewelry more than 3 times. All i wanted was a simple silver hoop and I've been determined to get it. My first initial piece of jewelry that I received with my piercing was a labret stud with a clear ball on the end of it. The not so informative unfriendly piercer told me that I'd be able to get away with wearing that for healing and it wouldnt be easily seen. BULLSHIT! lol. You could totally see it, and it had a bluish tint to it so it certain light you couldn't miss it. So i just would wear a bandaid over it when I went to work and it was all good. The bandaid thing worked out well unless I was working a long shift, then my bandaid would eventually lose its stick. Armed with scissors, anti-bacterial soap and about 10 backup bandaids I'd go to the bathroom, wash the piercing and reapply a new bandaid. This vicious cycle got frustrating and I was finally like ok..this isnt working and constantly putting on and removing bandaids is probably putting too much tension on my unhealed piercing. So I realized I had to tell someone that I have this piercing that I'm trying to cover up but its just not happening. I really just need to leave it be so it could heal properly. I told one of the more easy-going managers running the shift about my lil predicament and he was actually really cool about it. He said the only one who might have a problem with it would be the district manager and he's hardly ever there. He told me to take the bandaid off and don't worry about it, "Besides you could hardly see it anyway". I was totally relieved and felt I wouldnt have to worry about it for the rest of the day. Then around 6:00 (6 1/2 hrs into my 8/2 hr. shift), I went to the bathroom to refill the paper towels and i glanced quickly in the mirror and ...SHIT the ball on my piercing is GONE! (I hoped it didnt fall into someones latte I knew it was pointless to look for it, it's prolly been missing for hours. I quickly scanned the bathroom floor but didn't find it. Ok so I'll just hold the stud in place with my tongue and go later or tomorrow to get a new one. No big deal. It stayed in my mouth for a while then i went to eat a pasty sample and the stud popped right out. Luckily, I was just about to go on my dinner break and someone at work told me about a piercing/tattoo shop across the street. So I went there quickly and got another labret stud (this one with a solid siver ball) and also bought a retainer. I went back to work. It felt ok..but I though that maybe the bar was a lil too long. About 15 mins before my shift is finally over, I again have a snack that we were sampling ( I swear those triple chocolate brownie cookies will be the death of me). I took a bite of a cookie and..bit the bar of the stud right in half. Ok time to just put the retainer in and after work go back to the piercing place. ( I know I know I should just leave the retainer in and let it heal.) I told the guy what happened and he gave me a complimentary shorter stud. I went home cleaned the piercing and jewelry put the stud in and finally all is well in Lip Land. From thereafter, I would just take the stud out for work and put the retainer in. No problems and the retainer was the most comfortable jewelry out of everything I've tried. Well, this entry is entirely longer than I intended it to be and I doubt anyone's actually reading this. Im just rambling and ranting. So anyway, since then I've bought 2 horseshoe type rings that were too big and heavy (apparently some places aren't knowledgable about size) and my now current jewelry which is just a plain silver hoop just like I originally wanted. I love how it looks. The only problem is that it doesnt really have a closure. No ball. No hinge. You have to just pinch the ends together to close it. Not so hard to do when it's out, but when its in yr lip.....um yeah thats the major problem. especially when you dont have pliers. Right now its stuck in my mouth and the hoop has made my mouth really sore and my lip really swollen. I really need to get it out for work. I was supposed to work at 10 this morning but I figured I needed to go to the piercing place to get this hoop removed so I could put the retainer in and FINALLY once and for all, Leave it the fuck alone! I called out and told them i had some sort of weird stomach virus, maybe from something I ate. Sad when you need to call out of work because you can't get a hoop out of yr lip.I swear I swear oh great piercing god[desses] if you let me take this hoop out, I'll leave the retainer in until its healed. I can't be stupid anymore about this. Has anyone else had this much trouble with their lip piercing.. feel free to share yr stories....
