I'm wide awake in the middle of the night again.
At some point in my sleep I became lucid enough to start thinking about the war. It really does bother me that much, most times I can't believe that it doesn't bother everybody that much.
I was thinking back to some of the "documenties" that had come out several years back, the ones about Saddam Hussien and his sons, it was about the atrocities they had committed. Hundreds killed, doing basically whatever they wanted, I think they say Saddam had about 5000 Kurds killed. I do remember that Saddam had to be removed from power at any cost, that we were doing the right thing.
I wonder now that George Bush, who has essentially become a dictator himself, extended state of emergency, suspended civil rights, and sanctioned torture. I wonder if his atrocities out weigh those of Saddam Hussien yet? Who will remove him from power?
Evil People. That's what we keep being told the Iraqi people are. Dehumanize them so that they can be killed, but when you look past the propaganda, and you realize that they were a society not so different from our own. Not the same but not so terribly different. When you look past all that.... well then you find yourself awake in the middle of the night I guess.

I was. I'm now facing a choice between being downsized or taking a different position that I don't want.
