Hey Ya'll,
I had a crazy weird day today. Today is my weekend day off or at least was supposed to be. I woke up around five this morning, I guess I just fail at sleeping in, then went back to sleep. Then my phone rang, it was work and they needed me to come in because of manning and cover because several of our guys had an all day appointment. So basically I worked a half day but I get an extra day off at some point to make up for it, win! I was supposed to meet with a shipment inspector for a bunch of old equipment we're trying to get rid of anyway. So I hopped out of bed shaved, grabbed some food for the day and ran off to work. I get in, get set up and find out they need us for a class at the main station. So I scarfed a banana and we hopped in the truck. Now the route to the main station requires us to pass through the southern end of the runway. There are lights controlling when we can cross depending on airfield traffic and they where currently on. Traffic was backed up a good long ways and then a big exercise kicked off.
There was a simulated vehicle crash on the very road we where stuck on, between a bus of people and a fuel truck (big semi lookin thing similar to what refill gas [petrol] stations). We are the primary player in any emergency exercise, and generally we have some idea of when they're going to happen. I was not expecting it at all. I see an ambulance and two security forces (base cops) cars coming down the opposite lane and we jumped in behind them. We still had to hold like everyone else until the airfield tower cleared us to cross, so while they where all being slow doing that I had my crew bunker out. Once on scene standard craziness and mass casualty madness ensued, though it all went pretty smoothly. The weirdest thing was it was just a big massive fuel spill but with a vehicle accident but no fire. There's almost always fire, especially with a wreck like they where simulating but hey, less work for me. They where also treating the fuel spill like a hazardous material incident, which it sort of is, but we generally don't.
Two and half hours later we were all done, rapped up, and soaked in sweat. It was a hot day, but more importantly full on humid. So a perfect day for some potato suit action. I was definitely called in on a busy day and ended up coordinating the on scene operations, which I don't get to do to often so that was kewl. Lunch was extra short and went by pretty fast, I got a shower, re-hydrated, and had some food. We debriefed at the main station after lunch, the exercise went well and we identified some good things we can do better/differently and I learned a fair bit. I was surprised they wanted us all in uniform for that, seeing as how we'd all soaked them in sweat. Thankfully I had an extra pair of pants at the station, mine are still thoroughly soaked ten hours later.
I was supposed to meet the inspector during all of this madness and when we had a break to rehab after evacuating everyone from the immediate area I gave him a call and found out he wouldn't be able to make it til tomorrow, nuts ><. Also while at the main station I had to take a dump. I don't know about ya'll but when I'm at work I always have a preferred stall that I use. It occurred to me that I hadn't used my favorite work toilet in weeks. Maybe cause I'm a guy or cause I'm just weird I started thinking about what I would say or text to it, like it was an old friend/girlfriend mostly cause it was just funny and sounded so wrong. 'Hey good buddy, I've been waiting to shit on you for weeks!' Does it count as talking dirty when dirty is the purpose of the object? Maybe if you where talking dirty to a toilet it would be the opposite. 'I'm gunna get the 409 and rub you clean all...over...real slowly, with special attention under the lid.' ; ) lmao, I also started wondering what the proper etiquette for doing any of this might possibly be. That I have no ideas about, other than sending it a thank you note or something? hahahahaa Anyway yeah, that was my weird day.
Now here's a weird/funny/gag video my gf sent me the other day. Enjoy, ya'll have a weird day! = )
and what's a weird day without some Weird Al?! = D
