Hey hey Ya'll!
Hope this blog gets through, otherwise I'm going to have a really big pile of photos to share! So on with the cherry blossoms! I shot these along the Tama river on the western edge of Fussa. I'll be taking more later this afternoon along the famed east side of base and later this evening by the river again as it is such a beautiful day! It was so clear I could see mount Fuji yesterday, it's kinda funny cause there's mountains, mountains, and then huge giant snow capped mountain that's like 3x bigger than the rest! If it's still visible I'll take a shot today = )
I've got a bunch of as time goes along photos. The evening shots coming up where two days and an hour or so later. I grouped them so ya'll can see the change a bit better.
the above where shot just off the river.
this one is right outside my living quarters.
this one lurks in Fussa as do these
back along the Tama river
As you can see they're starting to fill out but it'll be crazy awesome very soon.
I had a really fantastic friday. All my stuff from Korea was delivered to my room so I've got a pile of boxes and a good chunk of myself back. So I'm excited about that, unfortunately my ghetto bike got a little more banged up and the back tire doesn't seat properly and the rear brake can't attach. I'll take it by the bike shop next week and see if they can't fix it, it needs some TLC anyway. The tires are nearly flat and balding, the pedals look like they survived a fight with a lawn mower and the gears don't shift properly anymore. After all that came in, I got a little more acquainted with the base just wandering around. I found the bowling alley, which is pretty nice and has a little Thai food place that is said to be really good. Then I wandered out to the river and back taking the above.
Afterward, I met up with one of my new buddies that had just finished work at the station. He just got put on 8 hrs as the man in dispatch from the other shift. So we get to hang and do stuff! Which is really awesome because he's a mormon that came to Japan for his mission and is the only GI that speaks fluent Japanese. We hung out for a bit at his place and he showed me Titanfall which most guys in the FD play. I get a feeling I'll be joining them sooner rather than later lol. Pretty awesome game. Then we went off base for food and fun. On my wanderings I went by this out of the way hole in the wall called Jesse James, he's been here for a year and hasn't heard of it so we checked it out. Found out they play live jazz music in there. The inside looked like it belonged in TX. It was pretty kewl and definitely a place to take the ladies. I found out he doesn't drink, at least rarely, which was a slight bummer. But while we where eatin dinner he got a text from one of his dispatchers and felt like drinking afterwards, score! So we went to check out bar row. It's exactly as it sounds and there's a few good places in there. I had a real good time just chilling and watching the drinks influence my friend. He didn't get wild or anything but was very entertaining. There was a cross dresser at one of the bars, a terrible one at that, who talked up and danced on this one drunk GI that I'm pretty sure had no idea. Not sure how, even blitzed I wouldn't have touched that. It was horribly amusing though. There was also a dude in a snow leopard suit coat that crab walked with a horse head on backwards. Welcome to Japan I guess? lol It was good times. After that we went back to base and checked out the enlisted club, which was really horrible. Total sausage fest as opposed to last weekend, so we got out of there and called it a night pretty quick. Next day my buddy stopped by the station, I was working, and he still had a wristband on and was having a very good hang over. He told a few stories from the previous night and repeated himself a couple times without noticing, light weights are sooo much fun!
On another note I'm getting back into working out again. So I weighed in the morning of the photos at 193 lbs, which I'd be quite proud of if I'd been working out. Since I've been on hiatus since November I've got some work to do. Most of this I picked up over my vacation and the holidays, sooo many sweets! I have a sweet tooth but I don't usually eat desert or have an abundance of treats like I was. I usually sit around 185 lbs so I got 8 lbs of chunk and winter warmth to let go. I took a few shots of myself for a before and after bit. I'm really excited to start swimming and working out again. Our fire station has an endless swimming pool that is unfortunately out of service, but the FD gym is really good and even has a little cross fit area in the bay. All the GI's played sand volleyball for a few hours saturday too, which was a blast! It's been a good while since I've played and is definitely one of my favorite sports things to do. It's always lots of laughs from all the awkward moments and hits that just fail horribly. Not to mention some of the sounds guys make diving for the ball.
I also wanted to say a bit about body image. I think everyone struggles with it a bit even if you're a stud like me or gender equivalent. I know I look good because I've had a full range of people say so to me over the years. I've accepted this as fact. Though I still look in the mirror and wonder what exactly it is everyone else sees that I don't. We all have our pet areas too, for me it's my mid section. I've put a lot of effort into making it awesome and it's probably where I spend the most up keep cause that's where my extra weight tends to go. That and what dude doesn't want to look like a spartan? It's just big, even with all that muscle lurking underneath. Perhaps because of all that muscle lurking underneath, irony? Either way you can hide it with good posture and suck it in a bit but when I'm home and just chillin it's more like, hmmm...still got work to do. For me at least I don't really dwell on it much unless I can see myself. So once I leave the mirror it leaves my thoughts. I may not be in peak condition but I am in shape and capable of doing most any activity without a high risk of personal injury I want, and that's all that really matters. So here are those, a few are a bit blurry but convey what they're meant to...they also display my horrible mustache.
unflexin
flexin
holy crap there's a strange hole in my briefs!
In other news, a few fun things ya'll have put up that I'd like to mention:
@jessicalou went to a comic con with her cuz and did a fun little
video.
@arwen has a new set out,
Dame Tu Alma her eyes are particularly awesome in this one, as is the rest of her.
@pebblezink has a new set as well
Splash! It's awesome fun in the sun, it'll seriously make ya want to go to the beach!
@bronx_ 's second set is out,
Tiny Dancer which just dropped so I haven't had a good look at it yet, I will be shortly though! = )
@alteredangel got some new
Ink go tell her how awesome it is ; )
@283256 is also getting a new crazy
back piece. I'm really lookin forward to seein this one when it's all done!
@flowerbomb keeps putting up fun blogs about her adventures in
Korea, I miss it quite a bit. Especially the barber shop, crazy as that sounds, those ladies always did an awesome job! And they gave you a mini massage at the end! So now I'm on the hunt for a new place, base shop was a bust.
And finally, I saved the best for last. @chrysis wrote a massively epic blog of
awesomeness check it out! Detailing why she's getting implants, it's very impressive. I tend to lean on the all natural side of the fence, big or small, though what anyone does with their bodies is up to them. She was catching a lot of unwanted flak and lays down the law so to speak. It's a really good read and the most valid reasoning I've heard for doing anything ever.
Last bit for me, as it is now officially April 1st, mustache march has come to a close. So here's a quick with and without!
Liberation! It feels so good to be rid of that thing, looked good on me though. That's it for me. Hope ya'll had a lovely weekend!
