haha, apparently i've just moved right next door to one of the judges on the reality tv show nashville star.
i'm not big on (modern) country-western, so i'd never heard of him. nor have i seen the show.
ahh nashville.
maybe all the weird shit that we play will drift through his window, subconsciously influence him, and he'll start writing microtonal serial country songs with...

i swear all the wild turkeys know hunting season just ended, because now they're everywhere and suddenly very cavalier. several times a day, i've looked out the window and there's at least one male displaying, along with their harem (usually about 6-10 at one time)
hey, here are some random helpful plant facts:
flowering dogwood roots & bark are anti-malarial. even if malaria isn't a...

I once saw a flock of wild turkeys while dipping my feet in a stream I never knew existed while following a road I never knew where it went.

Aren't those melons exponentially more difficult to grow than the other stuff, generally speaking? You seem to have planted a wide variety of them. I'm inspired.
I'm planting a garden of veggies at my studio right now. I will see which melons I can grow-- I guess I just assumed I couldn't grow any at all.
This is exciting.
Good luck.

That garden sounds amazing. I hope when things start to come in you will take pictures. I glanced through some of your photos. You take amazing pictures. Wow.
anyone know any good work songs?
humming random shostakovich themes while hunched over planting beans really isn't cutting it.
hey, i saw my first cottonmouth here! for those of you that don't know, cottonmouth=deadly, aggressive, very venomous water snake that's rather difficult to see. in fact, when i saw him, he was directly in the path of the one and only route from the field...

Whew!
As for the work songs I tend to enjoy the alternative rock songs when I'm working but some good fast paced techno also works especially if there are no lyrics. You can just let the music set the pace and kind of zone out.
Gotta watch out for those Cottonmouths those fuckers are mean! We're lucky to have Mojave rattlesnakcs out here, they warn you when they're there and all you have to do is freeze and wait for them to retreat far enough that you can walk away without getting bit.

Hey! I nearly ran into a toboba, a hog-nosed pit-viper. Not as venomous as a cotton-mouth, but without treatment you'd lose a limb. Always exciting.
so, guys, you think i should trepan myself? y/n? i think it would really bring out the blue in my eyes. and you know, it's a pretty XTREME body mod, i think i'd finally become a suicide girl automatically.
there's also this day spa nearby, and they're offering this new service, apparently they got this state of the art thing called a thanatron-- think i...

You need to trepan yourself like you need a hole in the head
As for the thanatron. I don't think Thanatos and modern technology should be (deliberately) mixed. There's plenty enough inadvertent overlap.
i'm drinking an illegal glass of milk.
just try and stop me, popo!
that's right, i said it.

I think you're pretty cool, too. When I was little I knew I wanted to be a farmer or a biologist. So I have loads of respect for what you're doing. If the whole academia thing doesn't work out I suspect I'll become either a native plant florist or a local crop farmer of some sort. We shall see.

Those all sound totally perfect, thank you so much. I've read most of Michael Pollan's books, I love him. Just finishing the last one now so I will try and track some of of your recommendations.
I had wild garlic, wild leek and swiss chard soup today. Mega tasty!

will your nature group include observations of machines in the wild?
i saw a front-end loader today, it was feeding on dirt.
you have a fingered citrus!
i really liked that video.
what is weird, is that there is nothing to establish the sense of scale of the little guys. i thought they were cat-sized or something.
and then when the person put their hand in the frame, i was like, OMG GIANT PEOPLE RUN FORREST RUN
