thought i might post a real live journal entry 
So. I guess anyone who has any interest in getting to know me whatsoever should hear my plans for the next however many years. Basically my husband and I have bought 5 riverfront acres on the olympic peninsula near Forks, WA. We plan on building a small treehouse (300 sq ft?) and retiring to a life of cave-person-hood (tree-house-person-hood?). In a sense. No electricity, no running water, no jobs; growing/hunting/foraging for our own food, raising a few animals, refining our own salt, and a million other things that will hopefully lead us to self-sufficiency. So that's all pretty extraordinary in the strictest sense of the word, I'd say.
That's the short version. There's much more to it than that, but I'll keep it simple for now.
