He can't stand the thought of that special someone being able to move on after the way she let everything fall apart. it would mean she'd forgotten the promises she made and how she turned her back on them. He has very little ability to communicate the emotional trauma he's going through for this very reason, and he can't explain why, however smart he may be, it's not enough to free him from the boggling, entrapping obsession he has with trying to make her understand. She drives him fucking insane. And he's not equipped to deal with it. The only thing that keeps him alive is his own forgetfulness. That, and his fear of death.
