I work for a company that has offices world wide. Today we had an online training session and I got to hear just how different English is spoken around the world.
The session was being hosted in London and people called in from Europe and North America. The presenters first language is French so that is what made me think about this.
During the question and answer part this is when it got interesting. There where people from London, Edinburgh, Belfast, New York, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and my Yinzer ass from Pittsburgh. I noticed that everyone had to take a moment and really listen to each other's questions before answering. I've heard the old saying of England and America are two countries divided by a common language and I experienced that first hand.
Side note. The session was on electrical earthling and grounding. This caused the headache because Europe and North America use different voltages and cycles.
