Last month I finally splurged and bought a new car stereo because the CD player on the stock stereo has not worked at all in the two and a half years that I've owned my car. I had some long distance trips coming up and decided I needed the ability to listen to CDs rather than constantly scanning for static-laced stations that I lose after a few miles. So I broke down and bought a just-above-the-bottom-of-the-line radio for about $125 ($250 after tax and installation). It was nothing special, but I loved my new radio. I could listen to my favorite CDs on the road again.
A few hours ago, while I was at a friend's house watching DVDs, some low-life rat-bastard ass-hat broke out my passenger side window and ripped my new stereo out of my car. He didn't even take the CD case sitting on the floor, just the stereo. I've never been ripped off before, so I didn't quite know how to react. I calmly called the police and made the report, then my friends helped me clean out the broken glass and cover the window in a plastic tarp. Then I called my insurance company. Turns out I have a $500 comprehensive deductible. I am not happy. I live pretty close to the wire as it is, and I do not have an extra $500 to spare for this. So because some punk-ass criminal decided he could just take my $125 radio, Im out $500 that I do not have.
I don't know yet how long it's going to take to get the car fixed and the radio replaced, but the more I think about it, the more pissed off I get. I really don't need this shit.
