OK that has to be a record for me as to how long its taken me to change my post... SEPTEMBER!!!! What a dork I am. Granted I was deployed on ship for a while so I wasn't able to get on SG so there is a bit of an excuse but I've been back in Okinawa for a few weeks.
So far everything has gone pretty well, sure there is always the daily pain in the ass of what ever game/duty/lame fuck around that I've got to deal with, but should I expect anything less? Eh, whatever, I guess that it's just what comes with being part of a Marine unit. I sometimes just wish that people could grow up and quit playing games.
I'm starting to get really excited about coming home, unfortunately because of this it seems like time is taking forever to creep by. The good news is that they've started putting together the flight rosters and I'll know exactly when it is that I'm supposed to be coming home!
I know that somewhere down the line I'm going to end up swamped with all the mail that hasn't caught up with me, I got something that was sent back in September just a few days ago... This should make for some interesting packing arraingements when coming back because I know that I'm going to end up coming back with more then what I left with. I don't trust the mail enough to mail Christmas presents or any kind of gifts back home and I feel pretty bad about it because I've missed a couple very important dates.... My sexy as hell wife's birthday and our anniversary along with my sister's birthday and my nephew's as well. I guess that's part of my job just doesn't mean that I have to like it.
Tonight I'm going to a Mess Night where part of the battalion I work with has a "formal" dinner, I've never been to an actual Marine Corps on, but I do know from past experience that they've got all sorts of silly traditions and other crap that lend to all kinds of "fun" at other peoples expense. Of course since the Marines are only going in the working Charlie uniforms and all the corpsmen are going in their dress blues (think of the Cracker Jack guy) we're going to stick out like sore thumbs.
Ok I've got to go jump into my monkey suit and head on over for some good old fashioned "tradition".
