OK I am late on my weekly post, but I've not only had duty this week but I have had the week from hell... The world has been conspiring against me for some reason, karmic payback for some sin in my past life, of just some cosmic way of fucking with me at the worst time. I could complie a list but that would just be waste of time, and I'm sure that everyone doesn't want to hear my bitching about stupid silly stuff that just happens to be timed at the exact wrong moments this week. The way I see it is that I'm getting all of this out of the way so that the next few weeks are going to go perfectly.
I can't resist because even I find humor in a lot of all this, we will go back one week from today and have a look at a few of the wonderfully screwy things that have happened. I don't remember what day it was but I had to go pick up a guy in LA that showed up out of the blue with out telling anyone almost 3 weeks early. Of course we were screwed from the get go, no matter how we looked at it we were hitting rush hour in LA on the way in and the way out of the city, and he was at the bus station down town to make things even more of a challenge... Didn't get home till about 11 at night. On my weekly run to 29 Palms I stopped to pull my weekly allowance out of the bank (since we don't have a branch in the town I live in) and the pin number I have been using for the last 5 years didn't work. Lucky for me the bank could fix that in 7-10 days with a new pin number that had to be mailed to me. Its still not here and I fly Monday, lucky it works as a visa but its still going to make getting cash a hassle. Oh praise the mail, it gets better a gift I have been waiting that was supposed to have been here by this week still hasn't gotten here, again I fly Monday, lets hear it for "express" shipping. One of the rooms in the clinic I was remodeling had its baseboards put on while I was picking someone up in LA when I wasn't done doing the work on the drywall or painting, more to make my job more difficult. Monday I forgot to reset my alarm to its weekly normal wake up time and goes off at 6:30, I was supposed to be there by 6:15, I'm late big time and get accused of not only failing to notify someone (first thing I did when I looked at the clock) but showing up later then I did. The workday starts at 7, I got there at 7:05 and was accused of not showing up till 8 Next day I get a really bad flat on the way in to work, its in the sidewall so the slime I have in the tubes won't seal the hole and I have to stop and pump up the tire 3 times on the way to work to make it in at 6:25, 10 minutes late, again I am accused of not calling in (called at 6 when I got the first flat). When I get to work I have it out with my "boss" (someone that thinks they are in charge of me because she out ranks me) about failing to call in both Monday and Tuesday. I pulled my cell phone out and showed her the call logs and she accused me again of faking them. I then took the duty cell phone and called in and played the deleted messages (thank you Cingular great feature) and guess what, you guessed it both had been erased with a time date stamp of when they were deleted (about 10 minutes before she came in to chew me out and write me up) I got called in to my chief's office to get chewed out and thankfully he actually listens before he chews and he was pretty cool about the whole thing. The great thing about being assigned extra military duties is that only a chief and above can assign them, HM1 can go blow it out her ass (and chief said so) We've had computer issues most of last week and a good part of this week and I have reports due that get sent up the the commanding officers for 8 of the commands on this base and not one of the people that are supposed to report things to me have by Monday morning (they were due the Thursday before) The new chief now wants to see them and go over them so he can have his "brother" chiefs covered when it comes to sending their delinquent guys in to get immunizations tests, dental etc. taken care of before the report goes to their commanding officer (delaying my report another day) I get these back and turn them in for our officer in charge to sign them so I can send them out (now 2 days late) and the new executive (yeah right) secretary decides that she is going to look over them after she says that she will make sure that he gets them. She's not only a civilian (this is a military report) but not in the medical field (potential HIPPA violation big time) She comes into my office about 5 minutes before the end of the day only to point out that there were things that she thinks should be done differently on computer generated reports that are impossible to reformat with out hand entering all the data from them on to a spred sheet (not going to happen with me reporting on over 1000 individuals for each immunization, physical or dental exam, lab test etc that has either come due or is over due) Delayed another day. YAY!!! FUN!!!! This morning I make my run down to 29 Palms, and I had lined up everything so we could be on the road as close to 5:30 in the morning as possible. I've even managed to get up at 4 with out the excessive use of the snooze alarm and out the door before 5 to go through the back gate that opens at 5 in the morning (has for years) only to find out after standing around out in the cold at the back gate wondering why they are so late opening the gate that the hours have been changed. The signs still say 5, I went through the gates last week at just a little after 5 with out a problem but not this time. The clinic wasn't informed that the base had changed the back gate times since we do not share the same global email system as the rest of the base. YAY more FUN!!! More stuff to be happy about, a 35 minute ride around to the front gate, and now I am going to be getting on the road late. The van gets loaded and we're an hour or more down the road when I get a call to come back because someone forgot to put the civilian's payroll into the outgoing mail at the end of the day and they thought that they could catch me before I left in the morning. WEEEEE!!!! More fun! Making us get to 29 Palms at about 11 (their lunch time till 1) so we have to wait for people to start getting back from lunch to take care of what we need to take care of. We do what we need to do and are on the road, we're late but we are on the road none the less, or so we thought. About 45 minutes into the drive back I get a call from someone saying that they needed me to pick up some more vaccines for the flu shots... 45 minutes back to the hospital, and another 45 minutes back to be where we were then... Great now we're running an hour and a half more behind. What could make things better? I don't know, but tomorrow owes me big time!
The addition of Friday.... Yeah Friday owed me or should I say owned me big time. After what had happened to me last time with my ride deciding last minute that he couldn't give me a ride to the airport I decided that "normal" humans are not to be trusted and booked a rental car. One of the guys convinced me that he would save me the hassle and money for the rental and was going to get the day off so he could drive me. Pretty nice of him only he didn't run his request till Friday morning to go. The HM1 that I have been having difficulties with this week (I'm convinced that she is just a bitter woman that feels that no-one else can be happily married if she can't) has to sign this guys request and make a big derogitory note on his request calling me irresponsable and saying that I should have arrainged a ride before now. Crap this guy talked to me earlier this week and waited till Friday. Because of the comment and what she said to him as we're getting ready to leave he tells me that maybe I should look into renting a car for the trip to the airport. Well FUCK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!! BASTARDS!!!!! Oh and another great thing about working in a small clinic where everyone is supposed to look out for one another and all that crap, guess how much was said about my getting married... nothing, no card, no congratulations nothing with the exception of a couple guys that are pretty good friends. Yeah lets see how quickly sign up on the band wagon to go wish someone a happy birthday, or congratulations on their retirement or anything else like that. All I really wanted was for someone to have at least said something about it at some point in the day since it was my last workday in the clinic as a single man. What ever.... Those reports still not done, our officer in charge sat on them and didn't sign a few of them before I left, not my problem anymore, fuck it. Oh yeah and before I can go on leave I have to complete some training off a web page that was first blocked by our browser settings, second wouldn't load or play on our systems since we have stupid excessivly bad written firewalls. Lucky for me I found a power point of the same thing and I had to do it after work today, I had planned on getting a haircut before flying up, now I guess that I will just ahve to get it done some time before next Saturday. Ready for the cherry and sprinkles, my dad forgot to put customs forms on the wine he sent up for the wedding and they were returned today. Its the only thing I asked for his help with and it got screwed up. Lucky for me we figured out a solution and its going to still make it there on time. My new pin came in for my card with the same passcode that didn't work last week for my new pin. The package that was supposed to be here this week didn't make it. I am hopihg that I can get it FedExed to someone that was going to be coming up with a little extra room to bring it with them. Then I fell asleep on the computer and woke up at almost 2:30 with a stiff neck. I can't wait till Monday when the plane touches down and I 'm not going to have to be back to work till after the new year.

It's always rush hour in LA... don't you know that?
If all of this is being done in advance so you have an excess of karma for the wedding then God itself should come down to officiate. Sheesh, what a rolling nightmare!
Thanks god you're out of there Monday.
I know you two will have an amazing time, lots of fun, and lots of love. Truly wish I could be there for you in person, but I will be in spirit. Enjoy the hell outta your wedding, relax, and let all the rest roll off your back. I'm looking forward to being "subjected" to hundreds of pics from the event.
Have a good trip.
Oh, and say hello to your grandkids for me!
