Well I guess since there will be iquiring minds I should post what's up. Where I work there were 4 of us that put in for a school, one of them was pretty much going to get it since he was on the waiting list since last year and then there were the other 3 of us. We had to put together packages (applications) for the school, and 2 of them got kicked back right away as a big fat NO WAY IN HELL the one that didn't was mine. Several weeks went by and still no answer as to if I had gotten the school or if I was turned down. I was thinking that this was good news. Well I was flat out wrong. Yesterday just before I was getting ready to leave I got told that my package wasn't turned down, but I wasn't going to be getting the school because the class was full. So what this means is that I can still go but just not when the next class starts. Short of someone dropping dead or getting kicked out of the Navy or some other thing I'm pretty much out till 2008 when the next class starts. TOTAL BUMMER! Oh well I should have learned to expect as much from the military, after all just look how bad they jack around most peoples lives on a regular basis. I was however offered 2 other schools, preventive medicine or advanced lab tech Neither of them are what I want to do, and a big motivator for me right now is the fact that I'm going to be starting a family so I want to get into a field that is actually going to pay well on the outside, and I don't think that either of those do. That and I don't think that there is much potential for moonlighting on the side for vacation and play money with them either.

This is really a bad deal for us since we would have gone to San Diego for a year, close to my family and close to the an airport for whitewidow's family. Not to mention it's San Diego and not Ridgecrest or some other awful place. (Actually it's not so bad here) This also throws all plans that we have been trying to make out the window for a bit. Something that neither of us really likes to have to deal with. So what to do........

Essentially that leaves us with a couple choices.

1. I can extend my tour here and hope to get into next years class.
2. I can put in for another school and may have to go through the exact same thing all over again
3. We can take orders to some where else, but there really haven't been too many sets of orders that I like the looks of.

I can't give anyone an answer about anything right now about what our plans are since we really don't have any that extend any further then December when we are getting married, after that it's all a craps shoot There were a couple locations that looked pretty good, but I don't know if I would be able to get them. I've been told that I am up for sea duty. Not what one wants to deal with while trying to start a family, I'll be damed if I have to ship off to some shit hole place and leave my family behind. What can I do about this? Well a preemptive strike is what is called for, pick something before it gets picked for me. So what looks good for sea duty? Well there is a set of orders for Rota Spain, Modellina Italy (but its actually on a ship), Bahrain (it's tax free), and a ton of stuff in Japan. Not whitewidow's first choice of places to go. I don't blame her at all since it would be a huge change. Last time I was in Japan I loved it, but Japan is one of those places that is more then just take it or leave it, its more like love it or hate it. I saw some orders to Hawaii in there too, that wouldn't be too bad I don't think but who knows. We've got a lot to talk about and some choices to make. I said that I would try and have an answer for them by the end of next week as to what we would like to do. (Notice it's what we would like to do and not what we are going to do )
