They were very apologetic after telling me what happened, and I screamed at them for a good 20 minutes before letting them speak.
It was some kind of bulk scam going around. A group of people hits different places in a city, and makes purchases a few minutes apart to keep them from overlapping, so it looks like a random shopping spree. Which I am guilty of from time to time
