During the past 10 days or so, it's become apparent to me that I worked my ass off so much that I hardly have any more work to do on a day-to-day basis. I kind of hope that lasts for the rest of my tour (2.5 months and counting down) here... I'm growing fond of the idea of not working and getting paid for it.
As for news... I went to Seoul two weekends ago, and had a great time... for the most part. Obviously it was Valentine's Day weekend, and I had this nice vision that there was a nice girl out there who didn't know she was going to run into me. Unfortunately, I ran into a girl I had dated a few times instead.
Don't get me wrong, she's nice, cute, smart, etc., but it seemed we never clicked. We were in different cities during the week, and so were only able to see each other on the Saturday nights I'd go to Seoul. One day, she didn't call me back with an asnwer on our dinner plans, so I decided to return the favor.
So here we are, in a club, and she's being real nice. We're having a quiet conversation because my good friends are telling her drunk date who took offense to her knowing me to take a walk for a few minutes. We eventually get to the predictable part of giving reasons for our split, and I am told that she didn't call me because she wanted to see if I would call her instead. A test of sorts, you see.
Well, I was sort of in my cups myself at this point, and I expressed to her that I thought this was rather stupid (not exact words). I was determined to prove I was no better, however, and thus not only did I confirm I didn't have her number any more; I also refused to take it on the grounds that I would get too drunk to remember it or keep it safe for later on.
It's true what they say: even when you have your cake, and it's there for the eating, someone like me will always find a way to fuck it up. One of her girlfriends came up to me around closing time and let me know how much of a jerk I was for good measure. At the time (5:30 in the morning or so), I was having a hard time standing--let alone trying to deny the truth.
So that was Valentine's day.
Since then... Well, I've mostly been reading, watching a few films, and slacking off in general.
Mostly I'm just waiting for mid-March, so I can start the process of shipping my household goods to the US, and do travel planning for this May/June's European vacation.
