Someone was nice enough to buy me a membership for 3 months. This came as kind of a surprise--since more than a year had passed since I'd posted anything on SG, and kind of not as a suprise--since a very random, non-SG person, contacted me out of the blue a couple of nights ago... after 12 years of having not spoken. C'est la vive.

Two...

Sadly, I think my time on SG is coming to an end. I have nothing against the wonderful people that frequent the site or the good folks that made it possible. I guess I've just moved on. Who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind in due time. My best to those of you who knew me (as well as you can "know" someone on an...

we'll always have Myspace. my trip to Romania rocked, by the way. Planning on making it back that way next year perhaps when I tag along with my friend Maria to visit her family in Greece. Greece, Istanbul, Italy sounds like a good vacation, eh?

Things have been really hectic lately. Most importantly, I found out that I have orders for Italy--a 3 year assignment that should finish off my stint with the USAF.

I'm really excited about this; returning to Europe is something I've been hoping to do for many years now. My location will be amazing--50-60 miles N of Venice... at the feet of the Alps themselves.

Well, Cancun was amazing.

The resort I stayed was, well, great. Great room, great service, great food, etc. I have no complaints. biggrin

The ruins of Chichen Itza were well worth the visit, and I hope to soon post the pictures I took while there. Was it a terribly educational trip? Not really. I had done some rudimentary homework on the Mayan people and their history,...

Italy ? Where ? Whatever, the food and the death rate is pretty good. I'm thinking of heading to venice at some point this summer on a little tour, not idea when though.
volkov:
the trip sounds like it went well. biggrin I've only ever been to border towns or Mexico City and that was long long ago. I don't know that I'd ever hit up a resort town down there. I do want to see that weird concrete "ruins" thing.

no more dos equis?!?! pfah! that's good beer! not so much the Corona.

Italy!? sweet! Aviano or Vic? I guess you'd be more likely to go to Aviano. Either way, let me know. I may be trying to head that direction this October en route to Budapest or Prague. and if not then, then possibly next summer with some friends.

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I got back to the real world. What can I say? It was kind of anticlimactic coming back, given that I was told a month prior that I would be deployed in August. Oh well.

I don't have much to write, as I've been lying low for the most part. I've spent some time with family and...

Sorry dude! I just moved into a new apartment and i still don't have internet there. As soon as i get that up and some pics formatted for the web, you'll see what i saw. Typically assignments here are for a year...or however long you can actually take the BS until people do the "midnight run"--gone without a trace and narry a warning! It looks like i'll be here at least that long...probably two years (i'm tired of moving ever year!) or i may head to japan. At any rate, the goal is to save3 up money to go back to school.

So, how's life treating you other than what's in your journal?

Back from Iraq... will post more later.

Just a vacation. I'm actually returning to the ROK in 7 hours. Good to see you're back and presumably in one piece. I'll let ya know more what's going one when i'm back and a bit more settled.

Going to Iraq! I'll post if I can, assuming access to internet. See y'all in 6 months. skull

Awesome.

I have a nephew, which kinda of does the same thing... with less favors.

Congratulations on that - I'm currently learning about kids by osmosis, so to speak.

Work is OK, actually. I've applied for a few Big Corporate auto jobs out here, both of which are total longshots. Amusingly, every dealership I've walked into here when buying parts has offered me a job on the spot if they find out what I do.

Things are pretty good otherwise.

I'm rather fond of the generic description the site gives for me. I think I'll keep it. The picture, on the other hand, will have to go.

I just flew back from upstate New York today. I had a fun trip, even though it was a training trip. Actually, it was probably too much fun. Did I mention Canada is amazing?

At any rate, I...

You'd be a bit more generically described if 'ETAC' weren't part of your AIM tag/handle/username. Nicely worded comment on the ISF/IA conundrum. I find folks tend to assume that bodies in uniform implies capable military units. Beggin' your pardon, I think I'll copy this over to the 'dialogue' on Costa Rica...

I've too much time on my hands, but that descriptor does stand out.

Yeah, hurt in theatre, thankfully mild injuries. Wading through the bureaucracy is teaching me patience, so there is an upside even to being evac'ed.

About a month and a half ago I departed for Greece, in accordance with my annual custom of blowing all of the leave I accrue per annum (or even going into debt) in one fell swoop, all for a taste of the good times the motherland can offer. Generally speaking, I try to time it for New Years' or the peak of summer time, for...

if you would be so kind I would greatly appreciate it if you told me how to use the bookmark section on the CE boards....I hope I am not intruding on your personal space..just the first person ever to say something about them.

Good job winning that contestt. I imagine those things are pretty f'ing tough. Youor beirthday extravaganza sounds like a liver killer haha. I manage to keep my drinking to the weekends but tend to waaaaay overdue (as a night in Seoul will do to someone haha).

Yeah, things are going well out here. Though it's pretty damn frustrating living on a college campus surrounded by tons of hot Koreans and not being able to date any of them because i work for the Uni. mad Nevermind that i don't teach here so there's no ethics violations, but i could still be fired and i really like the job otherwise. Last week i had to cut short a heavy makeout session over that. Ugh.
