last night, at the Australian Film Fest opening, i saw one of my favorite character actors lurking around.
the decidedly non-australian Vincent Schiavelli (of Death To Smoochy fame)
smoked his pipe and took part in the Australian cooking demonstrations. this man looks near death when you get close. why do i always forget my camera??!!??
the movie shown was Dirty Deeds, which was actually very good in the guy ritchie vein of film making. starring Bryan Brown (of Cocktail fame), who was also in attendance
and John Goodman (of "i was right in the middle of a Carmello, when -clap! clap!- i found gold" fame)
i recommend it, but get the dvd and watch it with the captions on so you know what the hell they're saying.
thankfully, Paul Hogan and Yahoo Serious were nowhere in sight.
They got us loaded on free wine and gave out gift certificates for free facials. how hollywood...
a waitress told me i was 'fun'.
class dismissed.

the farmers market normally goes until about 2 pm. but most of the good produce is all snatched up before noon.

Re: Jinx and so on: Yeah, it was on Division & Damen. The breakfast place you're thinking of is Leo's. It's still as great as you remember it, but the only time I remember to go there is Mondays, when they're closed.
Fireside in the mid 90s, yes. I bartended there and have a big scar to prove it!
I was in LA for the first time this weekend, I was horrified that I liked it.
