okay, this was my weekend. I went ot visit adrianne_aaaa in Bend.
On Thursday I went to go catch my train to Bend that was scheduled to depart at 2:35pm. This is what it looked like when I was waiting to take the MAX downtown.
So I get to the train station and they tell me that my train is running late. Okay, how late? They say about an hour, but I would miss a tranfer I have to make in Chemult (wherever that is) and that I would be stranded there. So they give a brochure for this charter bus called the Central Oregon Breeze and it goes directly to Bend with a few stops just to pick other people up and for potty breaks. It's also $10 cheaper than the train and takes less time to get there. Awesome. So I go all the way back home and wait untill I have to catch this bus at 6pm. I go back to the train station and board the wonderful Central Oregon Breeze. There were only about 5 other people on the bus, plenty of foot room and I could even lay down in my seat. This is what Portland looked like when I actually left.
Four and a half hours later I arrived in Bend with a numb ass from sitting so long. adrianne_aaaa picked me up at the "bus station", which was really just a bus stop outside of a hotel, and we drove back to her house. I got to meet her poodles, Harry and Sylvia.
We drank comsopolitans in the hot tub and pretended we were rich. It was so cold my hair froze. This was her dad's house by the way. He was in Mexico.
It never snows in portland. So I wanted to take advantage of being so close to a bunch of mountains. We decided we were going to go to a mountain and play in the snow. We drove and drove looking for signs. We finally came across a Mt. Washington drive and that took us nowhere. But when we turned down a little road to turn around, we saw some deer.
We finally found some sign to Mt. Bachelor. We drove and drove some more. Then we saw the MOUNTAIN. I have to type it big so you know how ominous it was. Oh well, I guess I could show you some photos, too.
We had called prevouiosly to see if we could go on the ski lift if we weren't skiing, but they said no. We decided to go anyway and maybe the person on the phone was stupid. I mean, we are paying either way, what do they care if we ski or not? But by the time we got there it was 4:30 and the ticket offices were closed.
We had seen a bunch of signs along the way that said Sno-Park so we decided to go there and play in the snow. We found on of the signs and turned down the road. And we drove and drove and drove, FOREVER. No more signs, no where to park and no place to turn around for miles. Finally we found someplace to turn around and on the way back we saw the Sno-Park sign. We had passed it because the sign for the other direction was buried in the snow. We enter the Sno-Park and, guess what? We needed a freaking parking permit. We asked some lady where to get and and she pointed us in the direction of the road that goes on forever. We drive and drive some more and then we just parked on the side of the road designated for putting chains on your tires and where you aren't supposed to park. Then we got out and played in the snow. I wasn't leaving without playing in the snow, dammit!
Other things that went wrong:
we wanted to ride horses and we called about 10 places and they either didn't answer, the phone was disconnected or they were all booked. Same thing with our idea to go on a hot air balloon and going to the lava caves. So we said, "fuck it" and went to rent some video games. We rented Gladuis and some other fighting game. Or so we thought, they both sucked. So we brought them back and got Celebrity Deathmatch and the new Mortal Kombat. MK turned out to only have 2 characters and only a few you could unlock. I tried to do the story mode to unlock them but I got stuck because I couldn't figure out how to do the Fist of Ruin. Stupid Fist of Ruin.
But we did get to play with some water fowl:
And I got to see adrianne_aaaa's niece and nephews. I hadn't seen her niece in 3 years. She's 9 now. I have known her since she was a baby.
Okay, a couple other pretty things and I will be done.
Tell me a good joke or riddle.
