Let me just say, holy crap. They were two of the most incredible shows I have ever seen. I spent most of the night with either my jaw dropped, or just laughing out of control at the absurdity of talent standing mere feet from me.
Let's jsut make a long story short: (Music geeks will love this)
12 Days of Christmas
Some pics:
Me with Bela Fleck. Really nice guy. World's greatest jazz banjo.
Me with Victor Wooten. My favorite bass player. Possibly one of, if not the, best out there today. The things he did live on stage... shouldn't be possible.
Me with Jeff Coffin. Now, I don't remember who said what, but I think it was Bela when I got his picture who said something along the lines of, "Hey, you've got a Jeff-like thing going on on your chin!" And then, slightly later when I went to take this picture, someone (possibly Bela again) said, "Grab the goat!" And w both did:
Now, each night after the late show (Yoshi's has two shows a night, one early, around 8pm, then one late, around 10pm, I always go to the late show...) the guys would set up a table out front in the lobby to sign autographs and meet fans. I had to think of something to get signed, and since they were out of CD's, I went vinyl. Here it is! (This will get played once, then get put away.)
