well the break-out went well, i studied prison break dvd'd and bust the fuck outta the hotel after a week of near isolation, mmmmm fresh air!
so im heading back to sydney in the morning and this was my last day in queenstown, the snow isnt snow anymore, its slush, well its been slush for ages but now its even worse so i decided not to bother going o the ski hill, and i needed to get some crappy souvineers for the folks at home, plus i like to get tacky fridge-magnets and other stuff whenever i go places.
so i spent a bit of time looking around the shops, had a burger (if youre ever in queenstown then you HAVE to go to Furgs Burger, it is awesome and actually makes eating a burger seem cool and almost healthy!) then as usual i got bored and decided to drive out to the bungy place and do a jump.
ive never been into bungy jumping, ive always seen it as a thing boring people do to try and seem adventurous and "kerazee", fooling themselves into thinking they are "extreme" when there is actually nothing extreme about it at all, and its safer than mountain biking or anything else remotely active.
but it was something to do and the guys there helped me out a lot, especially carrying me back up the hill once id been lowered to the bottom, haha i dont think they were expecting a work out today!
the main reason i wanted to do it was to see if i would be freaked out by the height, or by the sensation of falling again.
(if you didnt know, two years ago i was abseiling off the top of a climb when my rope gave way and i fell about 15m onto some "this is gonna hurt" rocks and totaly fucked myself up, very, very nearly dying and ending up in being paralysed from the waste down)
to be honest i wasnt bothered at all by anything. i had a bit of concern just before i went over, but only cos i had a sudden thought that cos i cant control my legs, that as i bounced they might come up and hit me in the face!
i didnt even feel a rush or anything, i actually felt empty by it, it didnt feel the same as when i fell off the climb, i guess i reached a higher speed when that happened or something, and the height didnt bother me at all, which is cool, i didnt want to of suddenly gained a fear of heights or anything.
so in the morning i jump in my rental car and drive 4hrs down to dunedin and fly back to sydney.
