I have found that often the best adventures happen when you stray off of the track that was planned wink
cudnovati:
being home is better than not being home... plans suck.

Tonight was a pleasant blend of getting my twang on, drinking table wine in a late nite caf in 1920's Paris and watching dumbfounded as a witch scrambled for a calendar, mumbling to herself about the moment's astrological significance. Sadly my retina-cam was inoperable, so I can only share with you this much ...the audio might have been salvaged for one segment, but nothing is...

"and not the good stuff like robert johnson, but the cheesy kind often played by glitzy white dudes. "

that made me laugh. there is an aspen based station back home like that. it seems to me like most places get to be like that after a while. i have a serious case of wanderlust, so staying put has always been a bit of a challenge for me, and i can definitely relate to stuff like that getting on your nerves.
if it makes you feel any better the southern california bros and bro-hos make me feel all stabby, i actually couldn;t stand the culture here for the longest time, but somehow recently managed to find my niche. i still get bored and annoyed with the monotony though, which i guess you can find everywhere.

i miss that glowing green you mentioned in oregon, i also remember spending some nights out and about on various hallucinogens watching the fog roll in through those giant old gnarled trees over the green, and thinking "this can't possibly be real". the only place i've ever seen that might be greener is ireland, and if so it's only a little greener wink

I hope i didn't poop in anyone's punch bowl with that last one. I just think it's important to not live in oblivion, celebrating what amounts to a lie. However, I do think we can then take that knowledge and do what we will with it, whether by renaming the holiday, boycotting it or turning it into something more personal and sincere.

Myself, I spent...

not sure if you ever went to The Music Box in the mall in glenwood (it was the only record store in town), but that was my parent's shop, and i worked there all through highschool and in the summers during college wink
bettybruises:
Ahaha yeah I wasn't partying up at CMC at age 11 or 12 (or getting lost on backroads tripping tongue )
I do have an older half sister but she grew up in Denver. The photography program up there is quite good from what I understand. I probably was at the pool while you were working there though!
Ski passes at Sunlight are still pretty cheap (I LOVE that mountain), Sopris is beautiful as always, the only thing that at times is hard for me coming back is not much changes. I'm kind of realizing that I probably don't actually want to move back here, my life just isn't here anymore...
I'm thinking Southern California may be an okay place for me for the time being, and eventually as the economy starts to recover, I can look at relocating to Portland, because I love and miss Oregon.

ORIGINS OF THANKSGIVING

The year was 1637.....700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe, gathered for their "Annual Green Corn Dance" in the area that is now known as Groton, Conn.

While they were gathered in this place of meeting, they were surrounded and attacked by mercernaries of the English and Dutch. The Indians were ordered from the building and as they came forth,...

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me at all. I shall stay happy honoring family and my heathen ways. smile

*sadness* While I agree that the origins were heinous, I can't help but love what Thanksgiving has come to mean to me... a day to snuggle up with my family at home, make yummy food, and just be grateful for all our blessings.

Blessed be, soul brother, whatever you do with your day! kiss
