Noticing
She sits alone in the distance
with the tendrils of light caressing her toes
Just behind the eyelids of darkness,
where you can't see her
Pain radiating until it becomes a tangible energy,
making her hot-
scalding to the touch
Snuggling in the arms of what she knows
Nursing at the breast of nothingness
She missses that taste on her lips
the taste of love
on her chapped, aching lips
She burrows deeper into lonliness
and no one notices
The windows to her soul had their curtains drawn ages ago
Listen closely, and the pain in her voice
will eat through your brain and heart
But no one ever does
You hear a sigh escape Shadow's lips
and turn your face to the darkness
that was once greeted by your back
As you step to the realm of her suffering
You see her
A body curled against itself
Reaching down, you part her hair from her face
Looking into her eyes
still you cannot see it - i must tell you
Peer into her pupils
Look past the years of pain
that has dulled her childhood into long forgotten memories
there i reside.

i think i need to clarify that this is an old poem. i'm not ledge dancing.
