Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave kind comments about my dad. He's doing well now, but he's definitely got a bit of a journey on the road to recovery.
If there is one good that has come out of this, it is that I now remember where my priorities lie.
Here's the part where I get sentimental, so skip this bit if you don't like that stuff. I love my parents, more than I can express. They have supported me through every trial I've undergone and you can draw a direct connection from the success I have today to the unconditional love they have shown me throughout my life. I am very fortunate that my folks are the good, decent people they are. To see them get old and know that it's not a question of 'if' but 'when' fills me with a deep sadness and a terrible dread. I would give anything to keep them healthy, but I know that's impossible. All I can do is to show them how much they mean to me through my words and my actions. If you know me in real life, then you know I'm not built to show public displays of affection, so you'll appreciate how significant it is that I have told my dad on 10 separate occasions this week I love him very much.
Don't wait for the dust to settle. The dust settling is your life, and the next thing you know, it's gone.

Stargazing sounds wonderful. There are too many lights in Vegas...

I have many regrets around not telling people how much they meant to me in time. I think you are wise to tell your parents as often as you can how important they are to you.
