Can I tell you how much I love DVD format? A lot. Last night I got to watch a couple of nice videos that I had only seen in part on crappy over-recorded VHS tapes.
I used to have so many great music video collections of bands I adored (still do) back in college - Einsturzende Neubauten, Ministry, Current 93, Nick Cave, PTV, Dimanda Galas, and oh so many more. Most of my VHS has bitten the dust though, so I have been without.
Last night I picked up a copy of the new Laibach videos DVD. Dissappointed that it did not have the documentary on it that I used to own, but it did have a very informative documentary which charted the history of the band, and gave far more information than I had previously known about them.
I've been able to pick up some very nice DVDs of Nick Cave, Psychic TV and The Pixies. Here's hoping for a nice release on DVD of 4AD's Lonely is an Eyesore, some Neubauten, URRGH!!! A Music War, Ministry's In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up, the Coil videos, and maybe some Test Dept...OK, now I'm just wishing, but there's no reason that excellent Ministry show should not be available on DVD...
