Okay, so... not sure if this is a legitimate update, or if this is the ramblings of an inebriated mind, or indeed if there is a difference between the two.

So... I have two big hamburger patties cooking in my frying pan... about a half-pound each. None of this cheap McDonalds 1/4 pounder stuff... a full 1/2 pound each. (Pre-cooking weight, I will admit). This is largely because I'm seriously allergic to most vegetables, so I have to get most of my vitamins, nutrients, etc from meat, fish, and so on. So I have these two big patties cooking away, throwing off the occasional bit of hot fat to burn me if I get too chummy with them.

Here's the thing: if I turn one, I have to turn the other. The frying pan isn't big enough for me to turn one of them at a time... they don't both fit, then (I had to make them non-circular to fit them both). So it's both at once. Or neither.

Now... the question. Is this some kind of metaphor for life? If you're going to change one thing, one *big* thing, that fills a lot of the frying pan... do you have to change them all? Or is there some way to change just *one* big pattie... say, the "work" pattie, or the "school" pattie (kind of the same pattie, for me, these days)... without completely jumping out of the frying pan, and into the fire? Or is gradual change impossible? Is it all or nothing?

Well... they're both burnt now, so I'd better chow down. Cheers, or something.

that's quite profound post about meaty subjects...i wish i could answer your question, but alas, the balancing of patties leaves me baffled as well.
