It would seem that my little Wheel of Book Title Fortune is determined to have me read series after series lately. There was the supernatural series featuring Dr. Greta Helsing; then the Norwegian series featuring Agnes Tveit; my previous read - The Dead Take the A Train - was technically part 1 of a duology; and now we've landed on another Norwegian crime series by

In my last NOW READING post, I announced that I was getting started on The Dead Take the A Train by Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey. And some of you requested that I let you know what I thought about it once I'm done. Well, I'm currently done!

If you're just looking for a overall comment on it, I absolutely loved it. But if you

Some weeks seem to just zip past us! (Foreshadowing pun ahoy)

This week started off very eventful, and then I spent the next two days recovering, not just resting some sore muscles but watching my arms become increasingly black and blue. If you're expecting some saucy story about some sort of BDSM event, however, you're out of luck. My bruises are the result of some...

Omg this is the coolest adventure ever!!! That floating station looks like something from a TV show! I love getaways like this, super fun and active and surrounded by lovely people. Most definitely a bonding experience. It's so nice seeing you doing things like this, it makes me beam with happiness for you!!!
ojtheviking:
@phianixx Yeah, stuff like this has definitely been needed in my life! Especially after these last 11 years. I thought I'd be a bit socially rusty in larger groups, but I've done quite well. I guess the live streams I've done on TikTok and interacting with people in that way has retrained my social skills a bit 😅

Hello, everyone! How are y'all enjoying your weekend so far? I usually do these "kickoffs" on Fridays, but I was frankly a bit preoccupied yesterday, so a rare and exclusive Saturday edition it is! I want to hear all about what you've got planned for today and tomorrow; in fact, I challenge you to overwhelm me in the comments!

For me, it's been a fairly...

@iluna I'm looking forward to it! Both of you are amazing! Which reminds me, I should follow @semelda again too!

I have to say, letting the book roulette dictate my next reads is a wonderful approach. Saves a lot of time when I have like 10 titles at once I am curious about.

This time, the ancient roulette gods bestowed upon me the gift of The Dead Take the A Train by Cassandra Khaw, co-written by Richard Kadrey. Check out the absolutely stunning cover of

@ojtheviking yup. A lot of drama, battle, and maybe even a kind of cyberpunk, which takes place before the full-scale 40k plot 🤪
ojtheviking:
@pesdusa Sounds very cool; kind of like a prequel story!

Friday is upon us once more! How has everybody been this week?

Generally speaking, I am still adjusting to a few new things in my life, and now also to being back here in SG land. I sometimes feel like I have only a specific amount of energy - I mean, technically, we all do, but mine can, on occasion, feel a bit more limited...

So, while I still haven't taken the time to re-introduce myself to this community fully, one thing I can say that some of you might remember is that I'm a massive bookworm. And these days I have this fun little thing I do. I will let fate decide my next read.

What do I mean by that? Well, I'm doing my own Dice Man thing,...

So, I'm part of a book club. This month's book is 'The Wishing Game" by Meg Shaffer. I'm not super far along since I have a lot going on (apparently, all of us in the group are since we all agreed to extend the month). Last month was "Legends & Lattes" by Travis Baldree. I like that this group allows us to share our favorite stories.
ojtheviking:
@niffler That sounds so awesome! I'd really love to be part of a book club. And that does sound great that you all get to take turns, sort of. Makes it more balanced that way, instead of just a forced, uniform reading list. It sounds like your group are reading some wholesome, cozy books!

This is kind of a random, borderline nonsensical post in the spirit of becoming active again, but hey, it's a cute story.

I'm not really one to brag much, but one thing I will be proud of is that many animals tend to gravitate toward me. I think that's just fine, as I love animals. Which led me to hang out for several hours yesterday...

@amra Yes, which is why we are rarely able to swat them, even when we try to be as fast as possible, lol. But after this experience, I don't really want to swat them anymore 😅 They can also see in almost 360 degrees, too, so there's no point in trying to sneak up behind them, lol.

...hello? Rumor has it that I'm sort of back. It's been, what, almost seven months or something? I've definitely needed that time to do some regrouping and rethinking in my personal life. But I figured I'd consider becoming more active on here again. All my previous content is gone because I believed I might not ever return, so I suppose this could count as a

I hope that the walk-about was instructive. We'll have to coordinate so we don't wear the same Mjollnir 😉
