Real life has been just a little too real the past couple of days.
My mother had a heart attack yesterday. About an hour after I get to work, my mom calls me to tell me she's going to the hospital in an ambulance with chest pains. She told me she was going to be OK without me, but I left work about an hour after that and went to the hospital. She had indeed had a heart attack and was being transferred from the Kaiser Richmond Emergency Room to the ICU at the Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco. She was conscious and in stable condition, but they weren't exactly equipped for
I got to the SF ICU as fast as I could, but when I did. I found her conscious, but on a ventilator. Her chest pains had gone away, but she was having trouble breathing, so they intubated her. I stayed as late as I could, most of it in the waiting room, distracting myself with Comedy Central and most importantly Tosh.0. Funny stuff.
At about 10PM I had to go because I had to take someone home, so I went. I didn't get much done, as I just went to sleep and went back out in the morning. When I got there, they were getting ready to send her to the Cath Lab (that's the Catheter Lab) to look around to see what they could do. They ended up putting in two stents with the possibility of putting in a third. She's been through a lot, and the ventilator breathing for her is causing discomfort in her throat (why wouldn't it?)
By the end of the day, her blood pressure had gone up, which was really good! It was pretty low in the morning, so it being above 100 was a step in the right direction.
I had to go home, so that's why I'm here. I'm pretty tired though.
