This was oringially going to be a forum post, but I think it is more appropriate as a blog post.
So I work in a clothing store, and we got some of those velour tracksuits in, and we have this sale, buy the hoodie (at $34.95) and you get the pants for free. But only those items.
Well, this woman, who was a real piece of work, was trying to get a deal for anything that WASN'T those items. she asked me "so if I get this hoodie, I get any pants for free?"
I told her "no, just the stuff on the front table."
A couple minutes later, she asks me the same question, but in a different way: "so if I buy this hoodie (which was a different hoodie, mind you), I'll get these jeans for free?"
Annoyed, I said "no, only the stuff on the front table."
Again, a few mintues later she said "so can I buy this hoodie, can I get something for the same price ($24.95) for free?"
Now I'm just irritated. So I take her to the fromt table, and I tell her "looks, this is the stuff that is part of the deal. Only these. Right here."
She said "oh. okay." And doesn't ask again. But I tell my associate that she's trying to pull a fast one.
Later, I'm recovering in the back, and my associate is ringing her up. After the woman leaves, she tells me that the customer tried to tell her that _I_ said it would be OK to take the pair of jeans for free if she bought the hoodie. Luckily I had told her that woman was trying to cheat us, but I was incensed after that. If I really said that, I would have cleared it up.
Ugh. That made my already bad mood even worse that night. I just started spouting obscenities out of anger. The main one being C-U-Next-Tuesday.
