my grandfather passed away last night. it was the peaceful end to the good fight. watching a loved one battle COPD is a tough thing. and it was the answer to a great number of prayers.
i have had conficting feelings and thoughts. we are going to miss him, he was the man that we all tried to make proud. but, watching him battle, suffering through the end, we would play for health, and if not health, a peaceful, comfortable end.
we got a little of both this week. he perked up for a few days enough to be taken off the morphin and spend some lucid time with his wife and children. health declined and the morphin returned, he was comfortable when he finally fell asleep last night, and let out his final breathe.
we knew it was coming, but it is still hard. a long good-bye does not make it easier. i have a few things to do before i head back out on the road to meet the family.
remember to hug the ones you love around you.
