Not pursuant to my previous rant on Nuclear safety et al, I provided a serious challenge today
.
Sidebar: I am having terrible instances of dyslexic typing of late, constantly mispositioning letters in words!
I did have a great weekend; saw GWAR at the NORVA on Sunday with two great west coast metal bands!!!! What a great show, sort of fun though to see it from the second floor (educated-old-guy rock-n-roller maneuver). It was great fun watching the dynamics of the crowd of wet & dyed white T-shirst throughout! Had a great time with my girl who became "the coolest boss ever" when witnessed by some of her employees there. Saw markotatoo there & that was cool too.
Had a great day of Americana style holiday fun for Memorial day; grilled out for brunch, spent the afternoon & evening with extended family, grilling out, pitching horse shoes with the old guys, and all around good clean fun!
Today however was not a good day, I embarrassed myself and my team by choosing to follow my own path in a simulated scenario rather than follow the management expectation and perform the actions in a pre-determined pre-approved sequence. I had a mindset of an end to meet they expected me to follow the segmented means to said end in accordance with the approved emergency response guidelines. The ERG did not apply as such however I should have postulated as such.
.
Did I do the wrong thing? No, I protected the health and safety of the public in the most efficient and unobtrusive manner. That is not allowed. It is considered a deviation from the approved procedures and a violation of my license. I am not allowed to think nor to be proactive, I am a dumb monkey, do what I am told, No More/No Less... Shit...
I hate my job on days like this.

I'd HATE that. It's especially rough on people like us.
If it makes you feel any better, I've applied to be in this supervisorial training program. I got past the pre-screening. Now I have to prepare a bunch of essays, and show up at this 3 day seminar where we will be observed and graded as we respond to various scenarios, emergency and otherwise.
If I get through this, the real training begins. The competition is stiff though. It's a good thing I'm an exhibitionist.
decadence is, indeed, sweet. I'll have mine with some sprinkles on top.
