Retro Blog: Before the Euro Trip
Im in the heart of Dixie working on this small independent documentary film. The bulk of production is canned and barring a few misc. shots from around the region the footage is ready to go. Sadly, the script isnt. In fact, the writer (Micah) is still laboring fruitlessly to squeeze out his mediocre prose and get the pages completed so we can lay in a click track and get this stubborn bugger off the ground. If I had my way, Id rough in some rather generic narration and move ahead, but that isn't where my job lies, so Im just here composing e-mail in order to keep the clock moving.
On the tails side of the coin, this slow time (for the editor anyway) has allowed me to get outside and put in a few miles jogging up and down Tishomingo Country Road #2. It keeps the blood flowing and the limbs nice and sore, so thats not such a bad thing. In fact, I seem to get an escort on most days. I little Chihuahua named Sugar hears me coming and trots along with me for 2 miles or so. To give you perspective on this glacial country life, Id have to admit, that brown mutt is becoming the highlight of my day.
Oh yeah, I also discovered the miracle of burning natural charcoal. (the excitement never stops) It so happens that with these lazy afternoons floating by, Ive elected myself the craft services cook for this gig. Without a doubt, grilled dinners are going to be on the evenings menu. So, I spied this old bag of charcoal under a dusty shelf at the local Farmers Market. I had expected to get a small container of the typical Kingsford? stuff, but this was 2 bucks cheaper and there was more of it... What the heck... Lands sake! but if that knobby collection of decomposed wood didnt burn coal hot for over 4 hours straight! Gosh Almighty! * whew * Yummy grilled vittles too. At the very least, I can take that discovery away from here for future reference. (Mental note: Natural charcoal: Good for vittles.)
Alright there you have it, for the most part, the complete collection of excitement that been coming my way here in NE MS. Well, I DID leave out the trip into town to go to the Piggly Wiggly, the old 63 Dodge Dart Slant 6 for sale that caught my eye... --and then there was that strange glowing spaceship that landed in the soybean field and abducted me into its science lab for all sorts of curious probing, but thats a little personal so Im going to have to leave the details alone. As you could imagine, any electronic bits of info that hops into my in-box is a welcome respite from the intense stimulation that I can hardly contain here on the farm. (OY! sarcasm, wow, wasnt that interesting?) So, I leave it up to y'all to help save me! If not you guys, then I guess theres always Sugar. Im sure theres some old dog poop that we can go find somewhere... * sigh *

Sounds very surreal and interesting.. maybe your brain is playing tricks on you to keep you from falling asleep. Ive always thought that we are fortunate that there is a film industry that does all the dirty work while we sit back and watch. dont get lost out in the woods..Ive heard way too many stories about people dissapearing. hope to see you around again soon.t
