The trip to Saginaw went well. We got to see my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin....they live in San Francisco, so I don't see them frequently. Though my cousin is now living up near Saginaw, so I'll see him more often.
We also stopped and visited my Grandma.....wow is that hard. She has dementia and is in a nursing home. It's rough seeing her because she can barely speak coherently and repeats herself frequently. It's painful to compare her current state to what she was like throughout my childhood.
So, one of my favoritest things about taking Literature classes has happened.....it doesn't really happen that often, but I've discovered a new author. I often have to read stuff by people I've never even heard of, most of the time it ends up being crap, but every once in awhile something turns out good. I'm reading The Country of the Pointed Firs by Sarah Orne Jewett and I am really enjoying it. I wouldn't have read it if it had not been assigned to me. I've never even heard of her before this semester. I rarely read anything written by women....not because I have something against them, I just usually read non-English, pre-1900 stuff and there just isn't that much worth reading that's written by women. I'm really enjoying this one though and I will probably read more of her stuff. Thankfully I went with the "and selected short fiction" edition from Barnes and Noble instead of the Dover Thrift Edition which only has the one story, it cost me $6.95 instead of $2.50, but hey, I have another 200 pages of her stuff to read when I get a chance.
And, just for adelina, in baseball news my Reds are sucking again and it makes me sad, but we're still only 2.5 games back of third place, so maybe we can make this season not a total loss by the end of the season.
