Ok- someone actually found my old profile which hadn't been updated since after Burning Man '03. So as a tribute I'm actually going to make a new post.
So basically I am back in my summer festival mode...and by that I mean planning and throwing them and not just attending. It keeps me real busy...
I've got Phoenix Festival which is coming up at the end of July and is giving me a headache now. For some reason Murphy's Law applies double to this one. And believe me I don't need anything making more work for me.
Burning Man is of course last week of August, first week of September. Our camp is so fucking hot. This year we are kicking up our heels and sitting back and relaxing. The plans- ditch the bar/club cause it's too much work. Instead we are concentrating on Shady Tower- 1700 sqft of live grass in a giant shady pyramid with a scaffolding tower in the middle. Two floors of scaffolding will have grass up on them and the third will be a viewing platform 20+ ft up. Also have a team working on an art car. And my project is the camp chill dome- a little carpet, couches, and coffee tables. And the best part- a 20ft long dining room table. Because to be honest- this year I want to sit and feast with my friends and enjoy the festival instead of working the whole time.
I call it the curse of competence- smart motivated people naturally gravitate to the top and find themselves responsible for things. It's a bi-product of the tyranny of volunteerism...but hey that's another post for another time.
