I should update, but I don't have anything to say. I'm really fucking busy, and I have a dog.

For my knees, they're hoping that surgery isn't necessary, but it's on the table because of the duration of the problem (8+ years), the number of contributing factors (weird arches, the amount of time I've had the problem and been doing sports that aggravate it, the degree to which one part of my quads is overdeveloped compared to the other parts, the fact that therapy hasn't helped during all of this). If surgery is necessary, they're thinking that arthroscopic surgery, which would smooth out the cartilage in the joint, is most likely. But there's also a surgery that would correct the muscular imbalance, and finally, worst case scenario, knee replacement. There's still a good chance that surgery won't be necessary . . . it just depends on how my knees respond to treatment that (a) addresses the severity of the problem and (b) actually has MY best interests (as opposed to those of a sports team) at heart. I want surgery because it would be a quick fix, but it might not be necessary . . . will have to see how the Xrays, orthopaedic evaluation, and therapy go. I'm sorry you're having similar problems. It's a real bummer, to say the least.
I want a dog! What type of dog do you have?
