Hey, alright...time to lighten things up a little. The ol' journal's been just a wee bit on the "throw yourself into the abyss" side lately. Boooooring.
I hereby solemnly swear that I shall henceforth be sickeningly cheerful. Well, ok..maybe not, but I won't be nearly as morose. Deal?
Chew on this for a while...
What's the best concert/performance you've ever attended?
What band/artist are you dying to see right now?
Have you ever intended to go see a band, only to have them break up before you had the chance? Describe.
Have you ever gone to a show expecting a band to suck and been completely blown away instead? Conversely, have you ever been totally hyped for a concert only to have the band suck large amounts of ass? Do tell.
My answers:
1. Dead Can Dance @ Universal Amphitheatre, Los Angeles, CA. No contest here. They were fucking brilliant. Lisa Gerrard is truly an angel sent from heaven. She was singing just for me, I swear!
2. I'm dying to see the Pixies reunion tour, but my answer is going to be Mogwai. I'd give up a kidney for that...almost.
3. I had 3 chances to see the Smiths play in Arizona and managed to miss them every single time. Then they broke up and broke my heart. *sniff*
4. I was literally dragged to see David Byrne (Talking Heads) perform one night. I've never been a huge Heads fan, so I was dreading it. Have to admit that I was completely wrong. He really impressed me. On the other hand, I was so completely jazzed about going to see Pop Will Eat Itself several years ago, but they showed up shit-faced and proceeded to blow huge chunks of ass all over the stage. Just bloody awful. What a letdown. Oh yeah, almost forgot...used to be a huge Get Up Kids fan, but now they're crap...anyway, had a chance to see their alter-egos, Reggie and the Full Effect. They sucked in so many special ways that I don't even know where to begin describing it. I think Lovecraft had it right when he penned "The Horror That Cannot Be Named". Zounds!
Let's hear yours!

Or maybe it's good that you couldn't make it tonight since crap happened and neither could we.

George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars.

That is a very long list! The top would have to be the Pixies reunion though, with APC and NIN as a tied close second.

Sort of. I kept meaning to see a friend's band (Naked Gumby) but they broke up before I ran out of excuses to procrastinate. He was the only one who had any talent, so I don't think I missed much.

I have been surprised by a few times, most noteably by a band whose name escapes me now, but they put me on the list because I hooked them up with about 30 bucks worth of delivery food when the guy next door didn't answer his door. They did death metal covers of Depeche Mode songs.
Conversely....no. I can't say I've ever been to a concert that I didnt' like.
