First off, to the few people who might actually read this. Say Hello to my fiance _aurora_ .
Interesting night to say the least, and it is only halfway through.
Had a drunk man come up to the counter saying he didn't have his keys for his room. No problem there, I ask him his name and room number. He mumbles and stumbles through that. I look in my handy dandy computer, and nothing. No record of him here now, or having been here. So I think he is just BSing me, so I walk back and get the security guard. He comes up front with me, asks him the same questions, and we get the same answers.
The guy says he left his truck keys in the room. I am thinking this is a good thing because he is hardly standing up. The security guard tells the man to stay up front with me, while he goes to check the room for him.
We wait a few minutes, the drunk guy runs to the bathroom, and finally the security guard returns. Apparently he was in that room, and he did leave his keys in there. So I am puzzled, we stand around trying to figure out what is going on and I go back and try to call my manager to come up and deal with the situation.
What does Mr. Security Guard do? He gives the drunk man his keys and lets him go on his way. So I am all "I really don't think it is right for him to be driving." And Mr. Guard says "Oh, he will be alright."
My manager finally gets back to the front desk, I try to tell her the gravity of what is going on, but she isn't seeing it either. So I excused myself walked outside and got on my cell phone. Called the police to alert them of a possible drunk driver. The drunk man said he was headed to the hospital to visit a friend who had a heartattack. So I told the police that he was probably headed toward the hospital. Gave a description of vehicle, the man's name, and that he probably had Indiana plates.
I just couldn't believe the security guard would let him just go off like that. It really pissed me off. So I hope the guy is off the road by now, be it pulled over by cops or making it to the hospital safely.
I tried to let it go for a minute or two, but I just could not just sit by and do nothing. He could cause an accident, hurt himself and others. That is something I can't just let happen if I can do something no matter how small to stop it.
Mr. Guard heard me on the phone, so I walked to another part of the building. I wonder if he thinks I am an ass for calling it in. Fuck him if he does, I would rather someone get a night in jail, fines, and everything else than someone get hurt because I didn't want to be a "tattletale"
I don't know anyone who has been hurt or family affected by a drunk driver, but I don't want to have someone have to go through that because I kept my mouth shut...
I am just a ball of different emotions right now. I am mad, scared, and a million other things all at once. It is making me feel a little sick.

no worries, just about everybody who visits my town for the first time ends up picking up a tile and or two. It's no harm though. Takes 3 seconds to replace it. Thanks for visiting!
