Have you ever read "The Blood Runs Like a River Through my Dreams" or "The Boy and the Dog are Sleeping"? Both are memoirs by a guy named Nasdijj. His writings deal a lot with the social problems that are plaguing many native populations. Hard to read because it's sad, but he writes so beautifully. I highly recommend both books if you haven't read them already.

I teach college, actually. I'm a grad student and I teach a basic "writing 101" kind of class. One of my interests is Native literature, and I bring it into my class whenever I get a chance.
