Now I'm in Paris, enjoying my last full day on the Continent. tomorrow I catch a train back to London where I'll be staying a couple days before flying home.
Today I had lunch in a very famous caf on the Boulevard Saint-Germain in the Latin Quarter, called the Cafe de Flore. It was a favorite hang out for Sartre, de Beauvoir and Camus, and other intellectual and literary types. It would seem that philosophers in France are much better-paid than in the US, since lunch (sandwich, wine, coffee and tip) for one came out to 34 euros . Still, it was very cool and it felt good to splurge a little after so many weeks of bread and cheese.
It's all been great. I haven't gone nearly as many places as I've wanted to, but I've seen a lot and I feel very lucky to have taken this trip. I feel pretty conflicted about leaving; on the one hand, I'm homesick, tired and miss being able to speak English without apologizing; and on the other, I'm pretty sad to be leaving such an awesome place. That, plus the election. In any case, I can't afford to stay any longer, and I'm ready to come home. So au revoir Paris, and here's to me coming back soon.

Eh, you probably won't sleep nonstop for a week. Make sure you sleep on the plane and you'll be good.
