I can promise something fleeting
Just a quiet evening that will pass
and although we ain't got nothing to show
by sitting at home
it'd mean a lot to me.
Chilling out at home tonight, alternating between watching shitty television, reading a book on Ian Curtis (which I just finished) and playing guitar, something I've been doing much more of recently. I think I'm the only person home that's awake, so it's a nice atmosphere to nurture my battle-worn (read: alcohol-battered) body.
Last night's show was great - first time I've gone to the upstairs area at Rosie's and definitely not the last. To The North are fast becoming one of my favourite bands of all time, and Willows, Stabbedingtheguts and The Stemford Hiss were rad too. On top of the sweet bands, I think I'm finally, finally becoming comfortable with going out and having fun. It sounds really stupid, but for the longest time I've been held back by my own insecurities to the point where going out was feeling almost like a chore. New Year's was the first night where I felt completely comfortable - and at first I was quick to credit the 5-litre keg of Heineken (fuck that shit!) I drank for this, but the feeling hasn't gone away. Speaking of New Year's - if this year goes anything like it started, I'll be happy.
I've got an idea, and feel free to comment/critique: I want to do a once-a-month DJ set of 8-bit chiptune music somewhere in the City/Valley. If you haven't heard any, it's dance/hip-hop/electro that's been composed with hacked game consoles, and I think it would be an awesome thing to do. I have the music, I have the will, but I wanna know - would anyone show up?
I'll close this thing by saying that my house doesn't have Internet and my visits to this site have become few and far between as a result... too few for SGAU it seems, which is understandable. I don't think I'll try re-applying until I have Internet again and can get properly involved.
