At the moment I'm sick with a bastard of a throat infection. I'm on antibiotics and have been told to rest, so no drinking or nights out for a little bit. Sucks not being/having fun, but hopefully I'll be over it soon.
On Wednesday I went to my police-issued drug diversion program, but I might as well start from the beginning with this story - my house got raided. Four uniformed cops and one plain-clothes detectlve searched my whole house and due to them finding a friend's bong, three of the four people that live here have to attend this program, which amounted to being shown a video. The appointment itself was rather painless, and there's nothing going on anyone's criminal records seeing as no drugs were found. In the end, it was a waste of time for both parties involved, and just a bit unnerving seeing my house (and especially my room) being fucked with. The cops even managed to break a plug adapter I use with a power transformer so I can use my American amp with Australian power, but thankfully I had a spare lying around.
Speaking of amps, I'm working with Leo, my housemate/hetero-lifemate on a new band, in the wake of Mischief dying and not having anything to do with myself creatively. We've recorded three demo songs so far, and I'm liking what's happening so far - think Orchid with more punk influence and a lot of jumpy riffs plus plenty of unsettling parts that remind me of Love Lost But Not Forgotten. Now all we need is a rhythm section...
Oh, and next month I've got up to eight pieces appearing in the next Tsunami, and the current issue has a few, as well. It's available from Kill the Music, Skinnys, Club Phoenix and tons of other places (including the website, where you can download it as a .PDF), and it's free, so check it out!
