Back on the Sunshine Coast. Someone shoot me.
And while you're at it, shoot my friend for coming up to the Coast today and not bringing my guitar with him, not to mention the mobile phone charger I so stupidly left in his living room. I thought that this was gonna be the trip where I didn't forget anything - seriously, I made sure I came back with the same amount of clothes and shit that I came down with, plus the few tidbits I acquired during my stay, and minus my guitar because I already had too much shit with me. And somehow, in that heated, focused concentration (pffffft), I forgot my phone charger. And yes, my phone is currently dead. Who'da thunk it?
Saw The Mars Volta on Tuesday night; they were really good, but they weren't the life-changing concert experience everyone said they'd be. Truth be told, there was minimal movement from pretty much everyone onstage minus the seated keybpard player (who was completely losing his shit the entire show), and if I wasn't such a guitar geek I probably wouldn't have stayed up the front as long as I did. Dillinger Escape Plan still reigns supreme as the best live act I've ever seen.
I spent Australia day at the Basement, watching Apex Null (Sam from Constance's other band), Western Decay (Definitely one of my favourite bands in Brisbane at the moment), and a little bit of Art Vandelay. It was only Apex Null's second gig, and already they showed a shitload of improvement. Then I went back to Sam's and proceeded to get higher than I'd ever been before. That weed was good - too fucking good. I passed out in the most awkward position ever and woke up to find that everyone else was hanging out in the valley with members of Minus Life and Siara. Ouch.
Oh, and now it's official - our drummer quit. Constance is a three-piece again, only this time we don't have anything resembling a rhythm section. I'm optimistic about finding new people, but seriously, when the fuck is my band gonna be healthy?

it'll either be something in the vein of dillinger (sans double kick, till i decide to buy one and then, more importantly, learn it) OR... closer towards what The Mars Volta are doing.. i've been trying to get some prog/punk kinda thing off the ground since deloused... came out but there have never been the players (guitar/bass) with the vision or ability of omar/flea/juan etc etc.. however, after friday's show (which i attended with two friends who were casual volta fans) i think the idea might finally take off (into the fucking stratosphere )
so.. i'm gonna get my kit and then we shall see what happens
Cheers.
