I just read that story about Diebold (makers of those wonderful, fully functional voting machines ), and I seriously cannot remember back to when a news story on a message board ever depressed me that much. And, at this point, I figure I should be desensitised to that kind of bad news, and to a certain extent, I think I am, sadly. But that one hit me right between the eyes.
Three words: WHAT THE FUCK.
As much as I hate to agree with my father, I share his belief that this generation, my generation, aren't shit on the one that came before us. Back in the late 60's when Americans were dying in Vietnam and the government was a hive of corruption and cover-ups, people made it very well-known that they were not pleased. Now, we see America in a situation that's very much like that one, and what are we doing? Nothing from the looks of it. Oh, but I'm sure in a few minutes there will be a flame war on the boards.
I will bet against anyone to take me up on it that instead of being seen as a concerned American THAT STILL HOLDS CITIZENSHIP (so much for running away from my problems by moving - we're in the same foxhole, buddy), I will be PwNzOrEd by some douche-nozzle looking for some excitement. And, you know what? I really, really don't give a flying fuck, because if anything this proves my point even further - we're too busy bickering with one another or wanting to do so to realise that by picking these little battles, nothing larger is effected or changed. And chances are, with the more time that passes on with no care towards the bigger issues, it'll only get worse.
We are just as bad as those men in suits who are throwing the matches and fiddling while Rome burns. Because while they're doing that, we're providing accompanyment and making it a fucking orchestra.

it's fucked, welcome to the universe.. physical statements seem to leave an imprint so much more so than non-violent protest or voting.. if it irks you, go join some anarchists and fix it..
until you get fed up to that point though, realize there is nothing you can do..
