I'm not going to do a big roundup of the last year, mainly because my memory doesn't work like normal people's. I can remember stuff but have no sense of time associated with it. I could remember something and not know if it happened this year or the year before. Suffice to say it's been awesome and the last couple of years with Pinklet have been the happiest ever - I know that much.
Most people can remember what year it was when they did X, Y or Z & I just can't. I can sometimes work it out by remembering how old I was, but I have to figure out what year that was like a maths problem. I can't do 'what year was this record?' quizzes because I have absolutely no idea.
This isn't a recent thing, it's something I've had since I was young. Just don't ask me how young. I don't think about the past a lot and I've now having to force myself to try and plan for the future, which isn't something that comes easily to me.
Previously when I've done a roundup of my year I've had to open all my blogs from the year and go through them to find out what I'd done.
Having no sense of time (history?) past about a month or so can be challenging. I'm pretty sure I often come off as a complete douche because I don't get in touch with people often enough, but that's usually because I can't remember if I talked to them a week ago or a month ago. Usually I get the feeling it might have 'been a while' & I owe someone some contact, but that's probably as close as I'll get to pinning it down. I can learn certain dates like I would learn a fact or a quote, so I remember the date of my wedding anniversary and I'll remember my kid's birthday.
This is also why my blogs are very sporadic. It's something I'm always meaning to get around to but unless I look at the date of the last one I'm not sure how long it's been. Same applies for other blogs I write or contribute to.
So I'm glad I write blogs and post on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram because they're now like my diary and photo albums. iPhoto keeps everything ordered in 'events' so I can see that this thing happened around the same time as that thing, but even then, looking at my iPhoto timeline sometimes surprises me. I'll go looking for a photo, thinking it must be from a couple of months ago, only to find out it happened before our wedding, which is over a year ago. I've even got an app called Momento, which collects each day's Twitter posts and Facebook status updates and Flickr additions, just like a diary. (Hopefully they'll add Instagram support soon as I post to that more than Flickr.) Now If I can just remember to check it every now & then...
Anyway, 2010 was the last year of my life where I won't be a dad & 2011 will be the first year where I will be. Exciting.

Congratulations to you both, I'm absolutely over-the-moon for you
Oh, and a belated Happy New Year too

Something like that, anyway. I often have to read back on blogs to separate one week or month to the next. I note things in my appointment diary to jog my memory too! Oops.
Sounds like 2011 will bring a whole new kettle of fish for ya anyway! I'm sure that'll help at least some remembrance, until the sleep dep. kicks in anyway...
